The Dabble

Offers and Hot Chocolate Pudding Cake, S’mores Brownies and 5-Ingredient Chocolate Cake

Offer. We made an offer on a house yesterday. Are you saying whoa, dabbler (like my landlord calls me), when and how did all of this house hunting stuff happen?!

Umm, quickly and then I’d smile and shrug my shoulders. We had to work fast on this place. It magically appeared on the market about a week ago. The location and rental ability in town are major perks thus highly sought after by investors. The layout is open even though the house was built in the 1890’s. The foundation is solid. The limestone walls in the nearly finished basement are beautiful. The asking price was in our range and the potential is through the roof. Maybe I shouldn’t use phrases like that in this case.

Does it need work? Yes. Do we have plans for it? Yes. Are there squirrels in the attic? Mmm hmm. Are we excited? Absolutely! Do we have to wait a month before knowing if our offer is being considered? Yeppers.

You and your squirrel pals get out of our house! Well, if it becomes our house, you guys will have to vacate. Look out for live traps.

I’m nervous, hopeful and that’s about all I want to say about the matter or I will jump out of my skin. If things go well, I’ll fill you in on the details of our plans for the house by one of the private colleges in town. (Read: location, location, location!)

Valentine’s Day…is Monday. Read here about my notions for this Saint’s holiday or go for the delicious Andes mint brownie recipe. My husband would tell you these are his favorite kind of brownie. I’m less hostile about the holiday this year but when I asked Greg what we should do to celebrate (in a sarcastic way), we both smirked and said put an offer on a home. Done and done.

Oh, happy Friday! Dur to me. I want to be a hypocrite now and do a throw back with some chocolate treats for Valentine’s Day. I don’t refuse chocolate ever and even those giant heart-shaped boxes call to me. When I was a teenager, I bought myself one at Walgreens and ate a few pieces in my car, alone, in the parking lot. Best and saddest story involving Valentine sweets ever? My taste has changed a little and I try to go for the higher quality chocolate but those boxes still catch the attention of the teenage girl in me. The sad, lonely, teenage girl stuffing her face with chocolate on Valentine’s Day in her small car outside of a pharmacy possibly cry-singing Foreigner’s ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

  1. You knew I was craving chocolate, didn’t you? These all sound delicious, but I’m most excited about the offer you made on that house. It sounds AMAZING! I think the best things often require work, and I know that you two will do some amazing things with whatever you end up with. But I’m sorry you have to wait so long!
