I miss getting meat from my grandparent’s farm. I often received ground beef, steaks and whatnot as part of my Christmas gift. That probably sounds odd but it’s wonderful to not buy it from the store for a year. Have you been to the Ferndale Market in Cannon Falls? I have yet to go, at least when they are open.

My first thought was surprise that Greg went with it (he actually wanted an entire chicken and to blow the market budget) and my next thought was that I could get a large bag of chicken breasts for that price at the grocery store.

Couple of things to note. I buy expensive local chicken–when we’re going to eat it as a dish. When I’m stuffing breadsticks with cubed chicken or making some other dish where it’ll all be lost on us anyway, I stick to the cheapo meat.

Now, this goes against my principals. I hate antibiotics, saline pumping (speaking of boob jobs), and not supporting the local guy but when it comes down to it I can do both as long as it keep it to a minimum on the one end of the spectrum.
