My name is Annie and I have a passion for food (and drinks, mostly of the alcoholic persuasion). I’ve lived near Minneapolis, with my awesome oddball husband, since August of 2008. We’re originally from a small town near Fort Wayne, Indiana.
On any given day, you might find me cheery, I might be a tad curmudgeon-y (albeit young) or maybe some other mood but straightforward. I make good food (ego aside) and am usually the last person to congratulate myself on any achievement (self-deprecating as hell). I’m tired of unrealistic food blogs that leave out life. I love food as much as the next foodie (or whatever you want to call us…I have no snobbery in the matter) but I am different. I believe that life happens in the times that I am not cooking, which is interesting and doesn’t necessarily involve food. Most scribes of this topic would have you believe, through their writing, that only food-related events come about in their worlds. (Malarkey.) We all know that is not usually the case. This website is a place, not just my outlet, but somewhere that I would like you to come and vent about life, share your funny stories and try these recipes.
Pleasant and unpleasant events should go hand in hand with the food world. (It’s like Seinfeld: a show about nothing and everything all at once.) The mishaps of life can be funny and I call it out. My food is not funny (most of the time) but I see it as something to enjoy and share, while telling a group of people, or one person, about your day or ideas that you have about life. I call that dabbling-I dabble and so do you. Share your mishaps, thoughts, suggestions, recipes and your dabble tales with me. I will understand and chuckle along with you or completely understand how big of a jerk your boss is or how the world makes you think you’re taking crazy pills.
For some time now, I have tried and tweaked recipes to relieve the stress of every day life. After attempting to settle myself into a career I did not enjoy, I realized that food is not only a passion but something that I could share, learn more about and make my life’s work. I would love to make new friends along the way. Not an expert and my degree is not related to food-I am just a person that loves home cookery. Welcome!
Oh yeah, my photos are all rights reserved but if you ask, you might be able to use them. Just send me a message and tell me about it.

Finally got around to checking out the site. Great pics and even better humor. I’ll definitely be a fan.
Thank you, Judy!
so, I stumbled across you a couple days in search of finding curried a egg salad recipe. (my favorite coffee shop down here in mankato serves it often….but not often enough, lol)
THEN I see your post about Blue Max (our favorite liquor store)….and then read the “about annie” section and see you’re from Ft. Wayne originally. While I’m not from there (I’m originally from Chicago), a good friend of mine lives there and I used to work for a magazine based not too far from Ft. Wayne (in the middle of Amish Country).
It’s nice to see someone who shares a passion for food and beer like I do.
Speaking of beer, I’m sure you know, BUT if you don’t…check out The Muddy Pig in St. Paul (on selby and dale)…awesome selection, and great pub grub!

That is so cool! I’m glad you mentioned the Muddy Pig because we’re having relatives visit in July and need some ideas for pubs and the like. Thanks!
I’m glad you mention about real life happening in between the food …. I have a food blog separate from my regular blog…but, don’t update it too regularly….for that very reason. I now find myself putting food pics on what I call my regular blog…. pretty soon I will not bother linking to the food blog at all…it’ll all be one…just like life….lol……
