About
My name is Annie Witkamp. Food is my passion-finding and sharing the worthwhile recipes I come across. Have one? Please share. The proof is in my pudding recipe page.
I’ve been a food writer providing recipes weekly for nearly 4 years at the Dabble. I live near Minneapolis with my awesome, oddball husband Greg but will be moving to Seattle in the spring of 2014. Both of us are from small towns in Indiana and went to Purdue University. We love the Midwest but can’t wait to experience life in the Pacific Northwest. I see myself on a farm outside the city, perhaps selling my produce at a farmers market and visiting vintage, thrift shops and flea markets since I’m obsessed and it’s part of my job. You’ll find me by a food truck or visiting one of the many wonderful restaurants there. Living a good part of life off the land, happy to create (recipes and furniture) and eager to share.
My life’s work is salvaging, “dealing” and designing furniture and sharing bangerang food here. Then there’s the whole renovating our house (mostly by ourselves on a tiny, tight budget) and DIY projects thing we have going on. You can find our furniture refinishing (and house projects) at the Wits and in our etsy shop.
I use mostly seasonal, fresh ingredients with a focus on local and quality over heavily processed foods. You can expect at least a recipe a week from me. Welcome to one of my little parts of the world.

Finally got around to checking out the site. Great pics and even better humor. I’ll definitely be a fan.
Thank you, Judy!
so, I stumbled across you a couple days in search of finding curried a egg salad recipe. (my favorite coffee shop down here in mankato serves it often….but not often enough, lol)
THEN I see your post about Blue Max (our favorite liquor store)….and then read the “about annie” section and see you’re from Ft. Wayne originally. While I’m not from there (I’m originally from Chicago), a good friend of mine lives there and I used to work for a magazine based not too far from Ft. Wayne (in the middle of Amish Country).
It’s nice to see someone who shares a passion for food and beer like I do.
Speaking of beer, I’m sure you know, BUT if you don’t…check out The Muddy Pig in St. Paul (on selby and dale)…awesome selection, and great pub grub!
chelsea
That is so cool! I’m glad you mentioned the Muddy Pig because we’re having relatives visit in July and need some ideas for pubs and the like. Thanks!
I’m glad you mention about real life happening in between the food …. I have a food blog separate from my regular blog…but, don’t update it too regularly….for that very reason. I now find myself putting food pics on what I call my regular blog…. pretty soon I will not bother linking to the food blog at all…it’ll all be one…just like life….lol……
Im so glad I came across your site. I love your recipes and photos! I look forward to reading more from you (“,)
Thanks, Alisa!
Hi Annie,
Your blog is refreshing. Great food, realistic cooking, true life stories. Fabulous! Exactly what I’m aiming for in my own blog. I look forward to following your adventures in the kitchen and around town!
Thank you, Trixie! My day has been made twice now and I am bookmarking your site. (You should see the humongous smile on my face.)
Hello!
I am reading through some and that picture of you and your Grandpa just touched my heart – reminded me of one of me and mine. Looking forward to reading more!
I am new to your blog and happy I found you
- Butter
Thanks, Butter! (I can’t tell you how many times I say that in a week.) I’m so happy you told me, it makes me smile. Cheers!
Hey Annie!
Your blog is awesome, whoever does your photos has talent, I don’t think I even need to mention the food. Im 22 yrs old and have a girlfriend whom i always cook for, i love cooking, but I have been getting bored after 4 years of making the same 20 or so meals. You’ve opened my eyes to some whole new ideas! Thanks for the recipes… good luck in the future with everything you do
cheers
Benjamin
You sound like such a supportive, sweet boyfriend! I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as my husband and I have. That’s so kind of you to say, Ben! I am the photographer around here and flattered. Keep in touch!
I have a serious crush on you! Could your blog (photos, recipes, writing, intersts) be more perfect?! My stomache is growling and I’m searching ebay for killer pieces for our house. Thank you for all of your awesome work!
Thanks, Melissa! I love hearing from people who flock together with me in terms of life choices and styles. Hope you keep in contact!
Hi,
I’m working on a boozy floats story for The Huffington Post Kitchen Daily. I came across your post and would love to include your photo and link to your recipe in my piece. I would of course link back to your site and credit the photo. Would this be okay with you?
Thanks!

That would be great, Julie! I’m flattered.
Hi Annie,
It’s so exciting to read about you. I came across your blog on Refinery29 here: http://www.refinery29.com/ten-best-food-blogs-to-bookmark-now/slideshow#slide-9. I am from around Ft Wayne, Indiana as well. Technically North Manchester and am now living in New York.
It’s exciting to read what others from the area are doing. Looking forward to more posts!
Hi Leah and former Hoosier (although we still are at heart, right)! I’m so glad to “meet” you-sending warm wishes to you in NY!
I’m so happy that you found my site because now I found yours and I love your work! Looking forward to reading through your posts even more.
Aw thanks, Michele!
